Why AlumierMD skincare?
When it comes to skincare, there are literally hundreds of thousands of products available. I’m not exaggerating, I mean, there are about 25,000 different skin care brands, and the global skincare market is valued at roughly £130 billion. Some of these are beautiful, some are clever, some are very well marketed and some are certainly excellent.
But I don’t believe I can be a true specialist in every product, from every brand, in every formulation, at every price point. And honestly, I don’t think it would be helpful if I tried.
At Skin by Thea, my role isn’t to overwhelm you with endless product options, but to help you understand what your skin needs, why it needs it, and how to support it with a routine that feels considered, realistic and effective.
And that’s one of the reasons I chose to work with AlumierMD.
Why I don’t recommend random products
I completely understand why clients come in with questions about products they have seen online. TikTok says one thing, Instagram says another, a friend swears by something, a celebrity recommends something else. Then suddenly your bathroom shelf is full, your skin is confused, and you still don’t really know what (if anything) is actually helping.
This is why I prefer a more structured approach.
When I recommend skincare, I don’t start with the product, I start with your skin. What does your skin need right now? Is it dry, reactive, congested, dull, pigmented, oily, sensitised, ageing, inflamed, redness-prone, or simply overwhelmed?
Then I think about ingredients. Does your skin need barrier support? Hydration? Calming ingredients? Gentle exfoliation? Antioxidants? Retinol? Pigment support? A daily SPF that is non-comedogenic?
Only then do I think about which AlumierMD product fits that need.
So the process isn’t:
“Here’s an AlumierMD product… let’s make it fit your skin.”
It’s:
“Here is what your skin needs. Here are the ingredients that can help. Here is the AlumierMD product that matches that.”
That distinction really matters.
Professional skincare should be prescribed, not guessed
One of other the things I like about AlumierMD is that it is designed to sit within a professional clinic environment, rather than being treated as one-size-fits-all skincare that you can just buy off the shelf. A lot of the ingredients in skincare these days are serious and can do a lot of damage in the wrong hands, so by being prescribed by professionals only AlumierMD really takes an individual, skin first approach that aligns with my ethos.
And I really believe that good skincare isn’t just about buying “active” products. It’s about knowing when to use them, when not to use them, how to introduce them, what to pair them with, and what to avoid.
A retinol might be brilliant for one person and completely wrong for another at that moment.
An exfoliating product might help one skin look brighter and leave another feeling stripped and reactive.
A vitamin C serum might be a beautiful addition to one routine, but not the first thing I reach for if your barrier is already unhappy.
This is why I’m so careful with skincare recommendations. I’m not interested in giving you a complicated routine just for the sake of it. I would much rather build something that your skin can tolerate, understand and actually keep doing.
Why I chose AlumierMD
I chose AlumierMD because it fits with the way I think about skin. And I wanted a range that allowed me to support different skin concerns without constantly jumping between brands: redness, sensitivity, dryness, congestion, pigmentation, ageing, barrier repair, post-treatment care and SPF.
I also wanted a range that connects well with in-clinic treatments, because what you do at home has a huge impact on the results you get in clinic.
A facial can calm and replenish the skin, a chemical peel can help with texture, brightness and congestion and microneedling can support skin quality and collagen stimulation. But your homecare is what supports the skin every day in between.
That is where AlumierMD fits so well for me.
Why the basics matter so much
More products doesn’t mean better skin! In fact, a lot of the skin I see in clinic isn’t under-treated, it’s overwhelmed with too many actives, too much exfoliation, not enough barrier support, SPF as an afterthought, ingredient overload, products that don’t complement each other and too much chopping and changing.
One of the things I like about AlumierMD is that that their products work well with each other and I can build routines gradually. Sometimes that might mean starting with the basics: cleanser, moisturiser and SPF. Sometimes it might mean adding one targeted serum. Sometimes it might mean building towards retinol, pigment support or a more advanced treatment plan.
A good routine should make sense to you. You should know what each product is doing and why it’s there. If you don’t, then I haven’t explained it properly!
Choosing an AlumierMD clinic in Hampshire
If you’re looking for an AlumierMD clinic in Hampshire, my approach at Skin by Thea is calm, considered and personal. I won’t tell you that everyone needs the same routine, I won’t tell you to buy ten products and I won’t recommend something just because it’s popular!
I’ll look at your skin, listen to what is bothering you, think about what your skin actually needs, and help you build a routine that supports it properly.
Sometimes that will be super simple, and sometimes it’ll be more targeted. But it will always start with your skin, not the product. And that’s why I choose to work with AlumierMD. Not because it’s the only good skincare range in the world, but because it’s a professional, science-led range I have trained in, trust, and can use thoughtfully to support the way I work.
Skin first. Ingredients second. Product third. And that’s how skincare should be!
